new to full confirmed the Copernican (? 1. Venus could be both between the Earth and the Sun and on the far side of the Sun from the Earth.
2. all of the planets show a full range of phases.
3. the full phase is caused by the rapid motion of Venus when it is close to the Sun and the new phase by its slow motion when it is far from the Sun.
4. the short sidereal period of Venus allows it to show all phases.
5. the heavens did not have to be unchanging, thus allowing the planets to show different phases.
