The Transmission in our Mitsubishi Eclipse doesnt change to its last gear!?

Its a mitsubishi eclipse 1998 4 cylinder 2.0 automatic and my dad says he cant feel the transmission change into the last gear while driving it, is it the shift cable? how do we fix it? thanks

Look at your dashboard lights. Does it have one that says OD/OFF, or OD/ON.
You have to have the OD(overdrive) on or it will never go to the overdrive gear.
