Okay I'm just completely sick of the Olympics now. I was up at 5:30am. Switched on the TV to catch the weather. And the BBC had the Olympics on. ... On all of their channels. Why? Even worse when I get home BBC1 has the Olympics on so I switch to BBC News and it's the exact same thing!?! Is there some weird place in the UK that gets BBC News but not BBC1?
And as if that lot wasn't bad enough my PC wouldn't boot. ...
The bullying our Olympic athletes have received on Twitter. What is wrong with some people? Are their lives so sad and pathetic that they have to get their kicks from being obnoxious and nasty to people who are representing their country on the world stage and are competing at the top of their chosen sport?! Part of me thinks they should be named and shamed, the other part of me doesn't think that they should gain any publicity from these posts.
The sort of words I want to use to describe them would mean I would have to ban myself! (Actually this rant applies to all internet bullying (and bullying in general).
Grrrr car keeps overheating, leading to Grrrrr #2 - Grrrrrr Italian car engineering. Why not put fan connectors in sensible places where you can get to them without needing to remove the radiator, which is a pain in the rear because of an unbendable plastic cowl?

So VERY MANY people simply don't care about anything other than themselves. It makes my stomach turn. From belittling our Olympic Athletes - who should be REVERED as HEROES for the sacrifices they've made to represent their countries, to beating up on WWII veterans, smashing their dentures, crushing their glasses and leaving them bruised and defeated all for some lottery tickets and a few bucks.
Maybe its my overly-tumultuous life that makes me less than understanding with people like these but I'm right there with you Frodo. We'll go down together. Just let me know when to open the flood gates, lol...
Thats true, Sev, very true. Its the duality of man. Our blessing and curse. We are all equal parts villian and hero in the mix. It's our choices and our thoughts that determine which side we present to the world.
I just have this unshakable belief that the certain factions of our population should be exempt from these kinds of base, shameful situations. Imagine that athlete? All year, they've trained, suffered, sacrificed, all for the chance for a place in the big show. It's so much more than any of us will ever achieve and to have some pompous, burger slurpin doughy-arsed spectator ridicule someone who's given more to this one moment than that spectator has given to everything he's done in the entire span of his life, is just beyond comprehension to me in its vileness.
Imagine this man in his 80s. He's survived the tale end of the depression, WWII, racial inequality, race riots, desegregation, managed to raise a family, lost his wife, and now, in the last leg of the winter of his days, three punk kids not only beat him down, but break his glasses and his dentures, and for WHAT?!?! All for a few bucks and a lottery ticket. I can't help but remember how crestfallen my father was the day they took his driving privileges away.
It may sound melodramatic but I believe in my heart he started to die a little that day. It was such a large part of all he had left. I have to imagine this man must feel the same or WORSE...
He deserved better.
Christ, I'm physically ANGRY thinking about this. I think I've gone past "GRRR", lol...
Well... the devil was once an angel too they say...
we were screamed at by a todger of a father in the vaccination room today.
Let me make the scenario for you.
we were in a small room, 6 foot by 10 foot approx, there were 11 mothers in that room holding their babies and what not. all waiting to get vaccinated.
there was only ONE female health worker who was doing ALL the paper work *registeing patients, making vacc cards blah* AND giving the shots. 4 of us students were assigned to that room to observe for today.
It was utter chaos. i have no idea how the worker managed to make sense of it all. ladies kept barging in, out of line, to try and get first, no one was listening to the workers Pleas to keep the line and wait outside and give her some space to friggin work!
Out of the blue, this man comes and starts roaring about how he'd been waiting so long for his kid to get 1 shot. and he started blaming the lady that she was teaching us and not attending to the patients. completely disregarding the situation that all this work was being done in!
not only was that not true, turned out that his wife had never joined the line but had sat down on a chair next to the cooler and expected the worker to come to her.
it was infuriating that this man was shouting on the top of his lungs despite the fact that he was shouting at ladies and in a room overflowing with pregnant or recently pregnant ladies too. On top of the fact that its Ramadan and there is no electricity!
we had to reason with the guy *with no luck* until the worker gave his bloody wife the preferential treatment she wanted and be on their way. Funny thing is if she had joined the line, she would've gotten her kid vaccinated within 15 minutes of her arrival. The Health worker was actually working that darn FAST.
cycled past my gym on way back from Asda and it is definitely shut for good, possibility of the classes resuming there under a separate short term arrangement...
so looks like my training log will be judo only, for a while at least, and i hurt my foot last saturday so cant get straight into some running damn you guys
I'm also hoping for a bit of calorie cut since unlikely I'll be doing much strength work in August. It was hard resisting the cream slices in Asda yesterday but I did it
