Thai oil before training but it stinks (I like the smell) & tiger balm after. Takes away the pain & the bruise.
You should always have a jar in, good for aches & pulls too
Finding a good one is the hard part

Yep, don't buy the three for a quid packs in the pound shops because it is crap.I bought my last lot at a lloyds pharmacy for about £3.50, and it was excellent stuff. I'd also recommend a dit dar jow for bruises and a U-I oil for aches (and clearing sinuses as a by-product).
 
Best I had was direct from Thailand and I'm just using Thai oil as a replacement until I can get some in. I'll try the Lloyds stuff but so far I've not been able to find one even close to the Thai one
