harukoraharu, these are a pretty good alternative. You can't go crazy on them in-case they fall off the doort frame but slow and steady they work well.

There are all sorts of variations out there.

Absolutely THROWS it down, waver on going to rugby training, decide to go anyway, get there with my mate when it starts hammering down intensely, see no one from our team at all, just the firsts (whose coach is Tevita Vaikona for those in the know) who are all built about ten times bigger than me. There's no point training with the firsts in a monsoon with the added delight of getting concussion every time you pick up (or in the case of tonight, fumble) the ball...

So we decided to call it off and go home. Big grrr as I was looking forward to some appropriate-level training ( ), but considering not even our captain was there, balls to it.

Will have to do a big cardio/endurance session in the gym tomorrow

I've browsed a few but apart from softwood skirting board and door frames with no wall space it would cost as much as a monthly gym membership so if I was committed to home gym then would seriously consider it. I still prefer leaving the flat too, as a motivator to start an exercise routine. A colleague in my team has one of these bought about 3-4 months ago and hardly uses it, can do less than me, though he does do 'weights' circuits at home.

Still no kettlebell

ok, while i'm glad that i now have less DOMS, i'm fricking PISSED that a random 4 hour nap reduced it more than sleeping for 12 hours straight (which actually did not reduce it at all)

Women make me grr quite a bit recently. We have artifical sperm so can we please get to the artificial ovary and just divide the earth already?

It's not necessarily the 4 hour nap that did it. A few thoughts (because I know you love the geeky stuff):

The attention we pay to our bodily sensations tends to be sporadic rather than one of continuous awareness. For example, if you have a banging headache and take a tablet (one which is ultimately successful in relieving it), you won't maintain a constant awareness of your headache as it subsides. More than likely, you'll suddenly notice a few hours or so later that it's either gone or reduced.

Plus there's a reasonable chance that the DOMS may have happened to subside beneath a certain threshold that you would label as "bad" during that 4 hour period regardless of whether you had slept or not. It could be a simple case of the "cum hoc ergo propter hoc" fallacy.

In Philly we get what they call "flash mobs" of teenage hoodlums that through texting, they meet up downtown and run through the streets beating and robbing people. It doesn't matter if its in the middle of the day or night. I would love to see these punks try this after a Eagles or Flyers game near the stadiums.
