Its well known in my family that I can't eat straight after training so I normally buy orange juice to give me some sugar while I wait for dinner. Got to the fridge to find my step-dad left me with about 30mm of the stuff. Just a general life lesson here, leaving a thimbleful of any drink for someone else is a dick move. Throw the damn thing out instead of getting my hopes up for a lovely iced glass of orange life fluid.
My sister does the 'putting almost empty cartons back in the fridge' thing all the time. It drives me up the wall! It's justifiable homicide if you ask me!
I'll be hand washing my clothes for a month. Admittedly I didn't write down what tokens I wanted but since there are only two types: wash, and dry and I included enough money for 5 of each, unlikely any other combination would have added to the amount I included. Someone is being thick or 'jobsworth' as last month I did exactly the same and got my tokens. So I'm going to ask for 50 of each next month including the correct money just to be awkward as I doubt they will have that many. In the meantime gotta get up earlier on Sundays to dry large items outside and stop anyone nicking them
Okay, their is this guy at my Jujitsu class I am starting to despise with every waking second. I abbreviate it, as recounting all the details would serve to anger me further and disrupt my sleep.
Basically, his ego and desire to prove himself, plus hormones (he is in his 2nd, probably 3rd year of high school) are raging. We started to learn this new technique for the first time, and when I ask him to grab my wrist, he resists 100% and since he knows the technique as well, he starts to push against me, trying to stop me. He then just stares at me, and I swear he had a bloody smirk on his face. I try to be polite, and tell him to ease up, as we (he is new to Jujitsu like me), and then he starts to go off about giving realism and probably some other self ego crap I couldn't care to hear. I tell him (politely) that we are just learning and resisting full force would be detrimental. He just grumbles and gives me a stink eye.
When he did the technique, he did it completely wrong (I wasn't resisting all that much), and just used all his stretch, damn near breaking my wrist.
Oh he is just a great big Cockalorum.
Then, we are doing a parrying drill, where we parry a punch and enter in close, either to the outside or inside, so we can execute a technique from there. He just starts firing off punches rapidly, so I'm forced to step back, re-align, step in, step back, re-align, step in, over and over, which would be pointless because if I entered the punch, then I wouldn't have to do that. Also, he keeps punching weird. He first punches so he doesn't hit me, I tell him, and then he punches rapid fire trying to club me. I tell him whats wrong, and why (politely) and he grumbles and starts spouting out ego crap.
Oh he is just a great big Schnook.
Pretty much every time he would spout ego crap, and would brag about he just punch or knee me. I'm thinking "No you won't, because I'm going to actually do the technique properly and not force it." You know, I go to martial arts because I'm surrounded my guys with the same mindset, and too escape from days trouble. I already have to deal with ego-like guys at school, and some Ignoramus walks in and ruins it.
Funny thing, I'm in my first year of high school. Except, I'm a December baby, so I'm actually supposed to be one grade down. However, I was psychologically examined and give the green light to go ahead, instead of being held back one year. Yet this guy, who is two years older, is trying to compete with me and prove himself, well it just leaves me dumbfounded.
My plan though is to just politely decline working with him, and work with someone else. I'm angry, and I know it, but letting it get the best of me is not the way to go.
Luckily, MAP is here, and even if no one reads this, after typing this I feel a little better. Thank you MAP. Thank you Grrrr thread.
I think you're right to try to avoid working with him where ever possible.
I had a girl like that in my Ninjutsu class. She'd go full force with stuff, even when the instructor had said to be careful with the technique, yet when I did stuff with a bit more power on her she'd grumble and complain! I ended up with a sprained wrist on one occasion and a permanent scar on the back of my wrist from rope burn when she was too aggressive on another!
^^ ^
I also had some like that in ninjutsu class, some women who were more knowledgeable and smaller than me and would resist 100% making it near impossible to learn anything, so I really only wanted to inflict damage. Result, pointless lesson. And occasionally guys too who were much stronger and still used full force so I was covered in bruises, like they only needed to use 60% or so to deflect the attack. Result, I would be forced to increase speed to make actual contact with punches and kicks just to point out if you play ego games so can I. Result, again pointless lesson.
And you're the one they forced out?! I think you're better off away from that class!
To be fair though, I've also be mushed into the mat by newbie males in BJJ. For some of them it's ego, they can't handle training with a woman and for others it's just that they have no idea of their strength and size in relation to mine.
Don't let idiots like that get you down. Instead look at it as an opportunity to figure out a way around his defence. When you've done that. Feel free to give him the dose of reality he is so eagerly searching for.
In the mean time. When he resits like that. Change the technique. If you get caught. Plead ignorance and say the other guy said to do it that way
I don't know why idiots like that even bother to turn up. They waste everybody's time denying anything they are shown would actually work and they'd just counter you anyway. And they invariably do the techniques wrong.
Must confess I became "that guy" when I went to an offtopic class at the local ninjutsu school. Kind of hard to ignore a woman sitting in side control and doing karate chops to the shoulder and neck going "you break the arm then the neck" though
Was bored and wanted a giggle? Normally I'd agree but I'm leaning more and more towards thinking more people should go to crappy schools and be absolutely dicks. Too many sucking impressionable people into BS and taking money from them. Its like the martial art version of the "do we let people say/ think whatever they want" debate
