Went to Tim Hortons this morning with some friends. I went up to order, and this is how the conversation turned out:

Me: Good morning, could I get a hot chocolate ple-
Tim's Staff Member: Are you SURE?

Not really a huge grr, but I was slightly miffed. I mean yeah, excuse me of course I want a hot chocolate. Geez.

I had a similar experience with a dozy staff member in Subway a while back. I went in and ordered a steak and cheese sub and said staff member then says 'do you want cheese on that?' No, I specifically ordered a steak AND cheese sandwich because I DIDN'T want cheese on it, of course I wanted cheese on it! GRRRRRR!

I hate it when you say to a shop assistant person "Can I have an "X" please?" and they say "Course you can".
I KNOW I can have it. The clue was being in a shop that sells the damn things.
I was just asking you to get me one as that is how the shop works.
I wasn't enquiring if it was a possibility.
Stupid people.

Speaking as someone who has to listen to loads of people asking this exact question in a day, maybe they are just showing they are not completely stupid and understood what you said. Maybe we just have stupid customers who don't say please

I particularly like when assistants say to me "are you ok there?" My usual response it "why, would you rather I was somewhere else?"
Gets me through the day :P

Yodel Bloody.... companies who don't say who they use for (non) delivery. Not allowed to deliver at work, can't sign for it when I'm at work, no neighbours

I'm going to see if I can work from home tomorrow, but will need to get up a bit earlier, logon and contact the helpdesk as I've been locked out from remote access. I haven't managed to logon with this laptop, I dunno if the access only recognised my PC, is that possibly, restriction on IP address? If I can get up and connected then there is a little bit I can work on, plus I can have the radio on without annoying 100 people

I doubt your IP address is the issue. I hardly know anything about Windows remote access or even just Windows these days. But it's likely your laptop is just not set up properly to log on remotely. It could be a user name issue or group policy problem. ... I'm really just guessing.

I sorted it, all my fault, missed a second logon page, there are effectively two passwords, my office password, and a pin-dongle combination password, and I was trying the latter first, duh...
