Eye exam today, thought I'd see why I can't read or see things up close anymore. Never thought an eye test would be so intrusive. The Doctor decided to look for cataracts, ok, so he check out the pressure in the eye with a bright violet light thingy, then he puts drops in my eye, and oh yea they sting a little bit as he tells me only a moment after he put them in, by then I already knew that he sends me into a room, evidently those drops dilate the eye, ok I get that, gotta see inside. Well imagine your camera shutter wide open, and then a torturer shines the brightest light he can find directly into your eye, I'm not sure but I think I saw the light shinning out to both sides of the room, not sure what that's all about anyway the water was running down both cheeks, must be why he handed me the handful of tissues in advance of the torture.
The good news is that my eyes are really good at distance, no cataracts, but reading glasses are needed for close up things. So he sent me on my way with plastic sun shades that he recommended I wear home. I wondered when I arrived why it was so dark in his office, well those drops that take a half hour to take effect last about 2 hours after. I walked out side and bam! mind you it was a cloudy day, unfortunately there is snow everywhere, talk about blind, on went the sun shades. Thing is I planned on shopping afterwards. So here I am at the store and not only am I not a shopper and can't find anything on a normal day, now I can't see very well as the only sun shades I have are the goofy ones the doc gave me and I couldn't bring myself to wear them in the store so it took me a while to find everything. Everyone's looking at me like I'm a crack head pupils as big as pie plates I finally had to tell the cashier that I just came from the eye doctor as I fumbled for money as all of it looked the same, I'm not sure she was convinced.
