Things that make you go GRRRRR.... (Part 2)

I've been told a good variety of honest ones by all my friends . If you have one more to add to the list, I'll be happy to hear that too!

Completely honest? I probably would have struggled to contain a big chuckle and a smile, just because I am a huge nerd and damned proud of it

Then I might have wondered how it was you could carry round those kinds of books and not be bullied for it, but if I had done it I would have been picked on

You kick a few dogs and all of a sudden you're labeled for life!

Yes, yes I can actually. I once knew a guy with Aspergers who used to carry math and physics books everywhere he went. He was adorable.

Nobody's been picking on me anymore since I threw wine just on Chief Bully's head.
I thought it would make things worse, but apparently they found it cool and preferred to mock him instead.
Good for me then!

...I have absolutely no problem accepting that this might not actually be a joke

Have you thought about branching out into cattle?

Damn, you gotta share your recipe of awesome with me. Anytime I walked around with text books that could come across as nerdy, everyone used to play "Nerd Hunt" with me.

Aye, they do. Most bullies back off at least when you show them that you're not willing to be messed with.

You know what I never quite got as a kid? People who went round saying that "bullies are cowards". They were deliberately picking on people and beating them up 'cos they're bigger and stronger! When you're a kid, that doesn't make you a coward, that makes you terrifying.

As an adult, sure I see it differently, but as a kid? Could never understand it. Even when I stood a foot taller than everyone in my class.

When I was a kid, apart from a few months when I was 15, I never did any MA.

As an adult? Yeah, a few of the local hard nuts on the estate I live (a couple of gypsies, dude who boasts about being hard core because he used to practice Ving Tzun, another dude who was thinking of taking up kickboxing) have watched me train a few times with the makiwara/pads/couple of other bits. Even joined in a couple of times. I'll spare you the details, but it has been...pretty entertaining, even with injuries that seriously hamper my mobility and training

Strangely though, they've gone from having a lot of respect for me and bragging they wanted to take up kickboxing with me to doing whatever they can to avoid me while giving me dirty looks. I don't know what's changed but frankly, I like it this way.

Lol

That's the confusing bit though. Sure, I may have kicked one of them holding my kick shield with a semi-contact mawashi geri (roundhouse kick) that left their stomach muscles hurting for three weeks, thrown a gentle mae geri (front kick) that nearly put the biggest one through my neighbour's fence and shown them they haven't gotten a chance in hell of grappling with me.

But this is where it gets weird. All of the bravado of wanting to train with me happened for several months after they trained with me. Then it suddenly stopped. If the bravado had been before and then they decided "no", that I might have understood. But the other way round?

I suppose it helps I stand 6'2, 230lbs with only a small amount of body fat and they've seen me throw tractor tyres over my shoulder

Tsk. Some people will just never appreciate gentleness. How unclassy of them!

The answer is always the same: in doubt, "because of vodka".

Now I want a tractor tyre too!

Precisely! See, I knew you intelligent folks might have gotten the fact I was being a gentleman

This...is...awesome...I think I found my new generic response to people

Oh my goodness, they are amazing! The one I throw around is a smaller one, only stands around 3ft tall, weighs approx 30kg (maybe closer to 40, haven't checked) so really when you show off to people, it is a bit of a cheat. But I would argue it's the best free training tool I've managed to find to date

I want one of the very large ones though. They look fun

Lol, will he deliver to the UK?

Borogrecian, may I have one? Pleeease!
I can write you a letter if you prefer, a bit like Santa!
