Why is it that, when you read a question and you have some input and you give an honest, considerate answer or maybe an answer that you know from experience and someone gives you a thumbs down? Id only give a thumbs down to someone whose answer was completely stupid, or obviously false or just rude. I try and give people good answers..Im honest. Its just IRRITATING. I wish they would tell you who thumbed you.
hahah thank you everyone who answered, and look how many thumbs down we all got. How fun. if there was a way to thumb down the question im sure it would have been super thumbed down.
 
i know it pisses me off too. i always answer if i have experienced the same thing and ill get thumbs down. or something as dumb as "what are your kids names" and people give thumbs down to peoples answers. is it really necessary?
 
I with you on that one, I see no reason to give a thumbs down unless it has nothing to do with the questions or it just way off, or being rude!! I usually only give thumbs down for the ones being rude, or stupid.
 
not everyone will agree with your well thought out advice, especially if the asker does not want to hear your particular advice. If all they are looking for is enablement of their own decisions, they will mark down anyone that does not agree with them, even if what they want is dangerous or stupid.
I try to reward anyone answering my questions, unless their answer is rude or disrespectful.
 
Don't mind it.
Some people give thumbs down when they disagree with an answer, even if it's a good answer... others are just going around and having fun. And it's really a stupid way to have fun. Oh, and some want their answer to look better, so they give all the other answers thumbs down.
 
Some people just automatically give the people before them a thumbs down. Just think about it how many questions have you seen with only two answers and the first has a thumbs down and the second has nothing. It's an infantile attempt to look smart.
 
I totally agree with you!
they give thumbs down to people whom they don't agree with and that is just ignorant!

I give thumbs down to those people who don't even try answering the question....

A thumbs down for an HONEST opinion? What is this world coming to..?!
 
Seems people use the thumbs down if they disagree with what you're saying...even though what you wrote was good. They see it as an opinion and use the negative feedback to vent their differing pov.
 
That annoys me too. I gave an answer that was my own opinion the other day as that is what was asked for and I got about 4 thumbs down. :(
If you have time click on my profile and look at questions. It's a one I answered about 11 year olds being on yahoo answers. Please let me know if that deserves thumbs down?

mee too. its anoying. i think some yahoo. gets off on giving thumbs downs-i doubt they even read the answer first.
 
I give that a big fat DITTO.

I also only give thumbs down if the answer is rude, flat out incorrect, or stupid/dangerous advice.
 
Don't worry about it, they probably either do that with every question, thumb down the ones they disagree with, and thumb up the ones they like, or maybe they were just in a pissy mood. Either way, if you put a heart felt meaningful answer down on the table, then no, I agree, you shouldn't have been thumbed down. Does it affect your points? If so, I would try to contact someone, and see if you can "report" who ever did it. Because if they had no reason to do that, and it effects you negatively, I think that should be considered some kind of abuse. Ya, definately look in to that. I know I would.
