Thought of the Day

Well sir, you really should have just assumed that's what I meant then instead of trying to take a swipe at my character(full stop) I'm rather disappointed in your willingness to judge me in a such a way that it implies I am an idiot(full stop of disappointment)

Ain't it(full stop with loopy squiggly on top)(full stop with vertical line above it)

I suppose we should write coofftopics as something like (near stop) too(full stop) That way(near stop) we won't be leaving our other punctuations(full stop) Apostrophes could be (fusion)(near stop) we don(fusion)t want to leave those out(full stop with vertical line above it)

Also(near stop) semi-colons could be (idea transition) and colons can be (clause transition)(full stop with loopy squiggly on top)

You(apostrophe)re crazy(exlaimation mark) Do you seriously think that anyone (open bracket) and I mean anyone (close bracket) could be bothered going to that much trouble(question mark) Because quite frankly(coofftopic) I don(apostrophe)t(full stop)

Don't you lot call them 'periods'? (Which makes us Brits snigger childishly, but then so do many, many things.)

Yes, we do. As far as I'm aware, that's what all the English-speaking world call them, apart from the USA. Do you have your own names for any other bits of punctuation?

I had a stab at Wildings in another thread over some English related stuff and Mod Simon told her she needed to put a "full stop" at the end of one of her sentences in her rebuttal to my post. That's where the (full stop) thing came from. Us 'Merkahns call punctuation all by the same name as far as I'm aware

Edit: This was the post - http://www.ihav.net/forums/showpost.php?p=1074786481&postcount=83

I was completely unaware of it being referred to as a "full stop." I found it to be clever.

It's a lot cleverer than saying 'period', isn't it?

I feel like a missionary converting a heathen to the True Path!

That's fine. Just take things one step at a time. If you try to rush it then there is the danger of a relapse.

Just work on saying 'full stop' for now. Next week we'll try to get you to spell 'aluminium' properly. By Christmas we'll have you ready to introduce into polite society.

One 1 was a race horse
Two 2 was one too

One 1 won one race
Two 2 won one too

It's easy (if you know how).
