thumping or bump noise when driving?

I have a 1999 Ford Taurus with 105,000 miles and the tires seem to be wearing evenly, but I feel and hear this thumping sound when driving. Is it the tires, or could it be something else?

I thought about taking it in for alignment, but with the tires not showing uneven wear, that might not be the problem..thx
