The Oklahoma City Thunder were on the verge of tying the 2011 Western Conference Finals. However, with about five minutes to go in regulation, the Thunder’s youth showed … as did the Dallas Mavericks’ veteran mettle. After the game went to overtime, the Mavs continued to dominate on their way to a 112-105 victory.

With 5:05 remaining in the game, Kevin Durant hit a three-pointer to give the Thunder a 99-84 lead. But then the Mavs went on a 17-2 run to tie it up and force overtime. Dallas never trailed in the extra session.

Dirk Nowitzki — who else? — led the way for the Mavs. He had 40 points on 12-for-20 shooting from the field and 14-of-15 shooting from the line. Jason Terry added 20 points, five rebounds and four steals, while 38-year-old Jason Kidd totaled 17 points, seven assists, five rebounds and four steals.

The Thunder got 29 points from Kevin Durant to go along with 15 rebounds and four assists. However, he missed his final six shots from the floor and finished with a game-high nine turnovers. Russell Westbrook had 19 points, eight rebounds, eight assists and three steals. But the overrated Westbrook had six turnovers and massively struggled to close out the game.

The Mavs can advance to the 2011 NBA Finals with a win in Game 5 in Dallas on Wednesday.
