Tiny Fish Came Back, How?

About 2 weeks ago, I made a huge mistake by putting the 2 tiny fish I got from a carnival, in my fish tank with all by other fish. There about 5 inches bigger than them, and when I got back from school, they were gone, I assumed on of the bigger fish ate them, but today I saw that they came back! How do you think they came back?
