SCRABBLE-exactly, only worthy members receive temple recommends. one of the temple recommend questions is are you a full tithe payer?
without the temple oridnances, a mormon cannot enter in to the highest degree of the celestial kingdom, so you have to pay 10% of your gross income to get into heaven.
of course if you don't believe in mormonsim, then it sounds kind of like a scam eh?
 
Wow. . . I gotta say, as a Christian that is a pretty scary tenant for any faith. To be saved you must donate a certain amount of money?

The only "payment" involved in salvation is the payment that Christ made on the cross when He died to pay for your sins and mine. Believing in Him and accepting what He did saves you, writing a check to the Mormon church or any church, does not.

In answer to your question, as a Christian I am required only to give what God lays on my heart to give, but I am to do so cheerfully and without resentment, according to 2 Corinthians 9:7

10% of my yearly income isn't even enough to make 2 months of rent payment. I work for minimum wage at a place that won't give anyone 40 hours a week except the managers. So, I have to be homeless to be saved?
 
Since there is no way you can do anything at all to get to heaven except to believe in Jesus as the son of God I'm just not sure why they are trying pay there way in or have 9 kids which is supposed to be an automatic freebee to heaven. It is to wonder.
 
tithe payer=temple recommend? LOL. You can't buy your way into heaven, my dear. Tithing is a commandment as the Bible states. Temple recommends are only issued to worthy members of the church. This means living worthily and obeying the commandments of God.

If I died right now, I would go to heaven, b/c I am saved by the grace of God. not b/c of whether or not i give ten percent of my income to my church. its not about that. a person could be saved, and go to heaven and never give anything to their church.

but if you do decide to give to the church, youre doing a lot for God. you are helping your preacher live, so he in turn can help more people get to know who God is, and youre also helping missionaries get the word out about Jesus.

Try Jesus. Get saved. you'll never regret it! Jesus is the best thing to ever happen to me!
