That speech was focusing on the peace progress in middle-east. Religions were a major difficulty in making peace in Middle-East.

It would be more concern on Isreal and Gaza.

The main goal of crusade at their time was about opening the path to Jerusalem. There is a similarity to the situation bwteen Isreal and Gaza. Without peace, Jerusalem will be a war zone and the path will be blocked forever.

Concerning Iraq, it is more on the conflict between American dream and local cuture.
