The following question is for purely informational purposes.

When you download a illegal torrent, your ip is logged, and if the government decided to they could call up your ISP and they will give them the info on you, but here is my question.

What if you are using a proxy, would they still be able to catch you, since your Ip is masked, and all?

If not, (once again for my curiosity) is there anyway to make completely hide your IP, or at least come close?

Please do not even attempt to report, this is completely in accordance with the rules, since this is a informal question on law & ethics. Also procedures.

Thank you.

That will just mean one extra step, asking the proxy operator for the IP address of whoever was using the proxy at that time. (Assuming the proxy wasn't operating by law enforcement in the first place.)

Proxy is the best way to spoof your IP. Your IP is only logged by the torrent trackers. So, if the government wanted to catch you, they could upload an illegal file and track your IP when you download it. In this case, yes a proxy will help. Hope this helps you.
