Tottenham Riots

Very true it was just a "turn that frown upside down" comment

Hmm I also learnt that young people births have stayed pretty much constant for the last few decades so maybe the whole "population boom" thing was just typical Mail nonsense. I am now curious what you're drastic measures are though. Are they as bad as my idea of shooting everyone once they reach retirement age and no longer contribute to society in any meaningful way?

Until we solve nuclear waste then that's just switching one bad source for another one. Add to that the life of a plant comapred to the money and time it takes opening and dismantling it and nuclear power is a poor option in my opinion until it gets more improvement. Which won't happen until we switch to nuclear power and realise its crap after its already ruined everything.

The shotgun it is then.

But more people are doing what I do which is check numerous sites and see what correlates while trying to ignore the opinion pieces. Not that it matters because less people seem to care about the important stuff like politics.

I always think you're 40 somthing. Must be the white rabbit. The entitlement thing in that case relates to a lot more people your age and older but I constantly hear it trotted out against people my age and younger.

Because its free? more to do with the human unwillingness ot part with money than anything else I imagine. Personally its because I think it does very little harm and I see a lot of comments on the internet about it being because the businesses are too greedy. Keep in mind that complaint is centered around PC users who pirate games and I'm inclined to agree with them. As dlc and stuff has become more common there's increasing amounts of anger that games are still being released with a £50 price tag when they're sometimes beign shipped prety much incomplete so compaines can capitalise on dlc knowing people won't want to be left behind. See: Call of duty map pack prices.

Heard the same excuse used against record labels as well but I don't pirate that much stuff except a couple songs for my phone now and again so its not something I know much about. Like I said though if you can get something for free I'd guess most would take it.

Cracked.com had a thing yesterday I think about how the increased choice in out lives has made us more depressed because we worry more about wether we picked the right option. to be honest when I say "life is better" I mostly mean in terms of things like discrimination or education. That's a while other arguement but I mean things more important to social progression than "we have stuff"

"The guilty will feel the force of the law"
"Receive punishment they bitterly regret"

What bloody country are these politicians talking about? If we don't punish beasts and rapists other than a few years in a drug fueled cell , why the hell would we ever believe this? All they will get is fines that they will either not have to pay due to being unemployed or pay back at rate that makes no difference to there life's

Because of course what we should be doing is giving them life sentences in the millions of free cells we have or hanging them from the Tower of London by their balls

In other news Leicester police got back to me about the fb group I posted on here last night and are "taking action" against all the group members.

Good thing too. I did that content report on FB citing that it trying to incite violence. Hopefully it will be taken down quickly.

So in your mind there is only 2 ideas and both are the most extreme at either end of the spectrum? Im guessing you have no problem with what I think may happen? You would consider that a punishment? I would not say life or any where near it but sever humiliation in front of the public they have no care for? and extreme hard labor to clear up mess while being made to be mocked at by the public or would that be to harsh for the poor little darlings? What would you say is a punishment?

Put the unruly brats into cages on lorries, fire water cannons on them for half an hour or so; and then parade them through town soaking wet.

Do the same with the Bankers who messed up the banking system.

Both groups will then start to think about their actions.

Well to be honest this bit

Put me in my normal "crush mail reader" mood so I admit my post was a bit unfair. Anyway to answer your question you're probably right considering fines and community service are standard punishments for vandalism charges which is what most people who were in court today faced along with a few arson and assualt ones who will get harsher sentences. What more do you want? Your idea of having them clear the streets is fine but if you want them out en masse (I assume you want London cleared up some point in the next few weeks) then you would need a big police detail to make that happen. As for the public jeering at them thing... When has mass public gatherings on crime subjects ever been good? I do the whole "moral highground" thing and am of the opinion you never say to do someting to someone unless you're willing to nut up and do it yourself. In the case of beating these people up as a lot of suggestions seem to be then feel free but you can't pretend you're better than them for doing it. I wanted the police to smash them up last night and would happily have done it myself but I'm comfortable knowing I'm a violence loving bastard

As for the fines comment: Well if they're income is benefits whats the point of fining them hard? You'll be taking tax money fromt he benefits and putting it back in the system to go back into benefits. I can see this turning into a benefit debate next but the short version is you take their benefits and housing away and relegate them to a sewer you lose more money through crime and healthbills as they get sick and steal stuff to live than you do by giving them money. All fine are done relevant to what the person can afford because otherwise you're asking for money you're enver going to get. You fine me 5000 just because you think I deserve it I guaranteee you're not getting a penny of it because I don't have it to pay you.

Agreed. I'm very tired of hearing how young people are so evil. Older generations make take a huge crap on the world, but hey, it's the young people's fault.

Is that a cop in the first image, a kid who stole a cop hat, or just someone with a funky hat?

Still sad no one tried to break into buckingham palace or something. Be nice to see the household cavalry getting involved
