If you're buying new, then the Xterra is the way to go. Very durable and has lots of power. My friend has a 2008 Xterra and he's always talking about it. He can't believe that it has like 100 more horsepower than a Cr-V and it only cost him like 23000!
The xTerra and Pathfinder are the same cars. Just different looks.
The Xterra is made to look like it is made for offroading and the Pathfinder for everyday driving and supermarket trips.
The Toyota is most reliable, but most boring.
I would go with the Xterra or Pathfinder. Whatever you think looks better.

4 runner -- expensive and not that much more of an suv than the others.
Pathfinder, just a little less expensive and not than much more of an suv than the others.
Xterra -- a hidden gem, if you don't mind not having all the bells and whistles of the other two candidates. Price is well placed too.
One last thought. For the fuel mileage all these suv's suck up, you could get a full size suv, but that is a personal preference.
