My car is a 2002 dodge neon and has 105,000 miles. It has been babied all along and ran perfect. I always did repairs at the dealer. I woke up today and went for a drive and the car wont pick up speed very well and engine sounds really loud after 45mph. I took it to about 65mph but it got really loud. The car is stuck in the wrong gear. Maybe 3rd gear not sure. I would appreciate any advice on how to go about this and how much does a tranny cost to rebiuld. thank you.

If I'm not mistaken, Dodge Neon has a 3-speed transmission. I may be wrong, though. Anyway, at 45 mph you're supposed to be in the top gear already and the rpm should drop at below 2000. If your tachometer indicates 3000 rpm or more, then yes, you probably have a problem with the transmission itself or a related component (switch, PCM, vacuum etc.). Have somebody scan it for codes.
