traveling by plane with 6 month old baby?

i am flying on the 10th with my baby (6 months old) does anyone know what the airlines regulations are as far as packing formula? i want to bring a can on the trip with me but we are not checking any bags so id have to be able to carry it on.. i know they are weird about liquids but what about something like baby formula (powder)?
 
Baby items that you carry in your diaper bag do not have to meet the normal 3 oz rule regarding liquids. You are allowed to carry milk, breast milk and other items as needed for the baby in quantities that would normally be used for the duration of the flight.
