Trouble connecting logitech bluetooth mouse to my hp laptop...?

i just purchased a logitech bluetooth mouse and a bluetooth usb adapter, installed the cds and they didn't connect. ive tried doing stuff for about an hour with no luck. HELP!!
there is no error message that apperes, there mouse's light flashes along with the bluetooth usb dongle as if they are trying to connect, and in the bluetooth program i can see my mouse there, but it just doesnt seem to be working?
