I recently bought a NEW Dvd RE writer. Since I installed it I have had nothing but trouble with it. I am running windows xp home sp2. Now there are several problems with it. Firstly since I installed SP2 for windows the computer keeps loosing the drive, I mean it just doesn't show at all in my computer. I also have trouble with it recognizing that there is a disk inserted in it sometimes. I have downloaded the latest driver for it (it's the right one!) but when I try to flash it, it gives me a message saying that the software is for a certain drive that I don't have installed?! My head is broken ! Im fairly computer literate and have not got a clue whats going on with it.
Can anyone offer some advice please?
I have tried uninstalling it and using the "Add new Hardware" wizard to re install it but when I try to update the driver it will not let me use the correct driver that I have downloaded for it. It just doesn't show as an option at all !
Any help at all would be well appreciated. !!
