Turn ignition off while in Drive?

What would happen is you were driving and then pull the key out? would the car just stop all of the sudden? I know its possible b/c a few times i would pull up to my driveway, pull the e-brake and turn the key off w/o putting it in Park first.

The car would keep rolling on until you hit the brake to stop it. Technically it is still in drive and it will continue to go as if you were on neutral.
