ok ive just bought a ps3 and connected it to a panasonic 32LXD700

http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_G...trackInfo=true

now i always thought this tv`s highest res was 720p however when the ps3 starts it comes up with 1080p in the top corner (it is defo 1080p and not 1080i), is this right? I`m not sure if im imagining it but it seems to look more jaggy in 1080p than 720p. Can it be forcing it somehow and doing this or is it just in my mind.

can anyone confirm that it defo is only 720p and if it is should i set the ps3 to 720p or leave it as it is?

2nd question, just got the spiderman trilogy on blu ray, my first blu ray movies, and when i play them they play in a letterbox, ie they dont fill the entire screen. why is this? i was really expecting them to fill my tv screen. is there anything i can do about this?

cheers
mike

Yea same here with Call of Duty 4. On the Playstation menu screen its 1080i. But when you start COD4, it bumps down to 720i.

Reason: Because the games only support a certain type of resolution. On the PC version of COD4, you can adjust that. Im not sure if you can on PS3. Thats why the Crosshair on COD4 is ridiculously huge. Meaning everything is BUG EYED. I have a ps3 and im using composite cables (red yellow white cables) so i dont really know. Sorry mate.

1st question.

i read this in a review,

"The 1080p talents we mentioned a moment ago come about at least in part via the 32LXD700's sophisticated V-Real 2 Pro image processing engine, which as well as accepting native 1080p sources will also scale lower resolution sources up to the 1080p level before fitting them into the available pixels - in this case, 1,366 x 768.

We guess some of you may feel a bit disappointed that Panasonic's top-end LCD TV doesn't sport a full HD pixel count, but we have strong doubts that you'd really appreciate a full HD resolution anyway on such a small screen."

so i think you should set your ps3 to 720p. 1080p is the best as of now (who knows what else we come up with.)

2nd question. the movies play in letter box because it is HDTV. The HDTV is Wide Screen and the PS3, when playing Blu-Ray movies, plays it in Wide Screen (letterbox). If you by a normal DVD, it will fill the entire screen, but the quality of the image is not as crisp and clean and detailed as the Blu-Ray

hopes this helps!
