typing in Japanese on paired itouch and apple keyboard?

so I paired my ipod touch with a Apple bluetooth keyboard and that works find. But how do I switch between typing in english letters to typing in japanese kana. Both of those keyboards are active on my ipod touch, but I can't seem to switch which language I'm typing in via the bluetooth keyboard.
