unable to recognise usb?

thanks for the reply to my question but i have tried , start . my computer and plugged in various usb devices and none are recognised by the computer only the dvd drive , any ideas?
 
Check your BIOS settings and ensure that USB is enabled. Hit whatever key it tells you on start up to enter setup, then it brings up a blue screeen that you have to navigate with your cursor keys. I'm pretty sure that something in there enables USB. If you can't find anything then select Exit, if you do find something and change it, select Save and Exit. Then your pc reboots as normal.
