That depends on which theory you believe in... there's the "the universe is expanding into itself" theory (a bit like a mobius bottle/jar)...

or my personal favorite - the universe ISN'T expanding, it's quite the opposite... Matter is contracting, thus making the distances between sub-atomic molecules appear larger... thus making it appear like the distance between planets is expanding

There are quite a few theories on this point... I guess we need to wait until the year 2063 and warp drive

I like giving Jehovan witnesses and Mormons a hard time... (and really anyone who comes to my door to buy, sell or make me change religion...). I asked them this one...

Their answer was "as God is all powerfull, we cannot comprehend his abilities. As such, the question isn't even pertinent because we cannot comprehend him". Being an inquisitive person, I asked why the question wasn't pertinent, and how they could decide it wasn't pertinent if they couldn't even comprehend the answer...

They left a leaflet and said "that's a good question, come along to our weekly meeting and ask, I'm sure someone might have an answer"
