Ok. Today at Best Buy I bought an open box Insignia NS-2BRDVD Blu-Ray player. I know, not the best, but it was under $100 and all I was really going there for was an upscaling dvd player. I figured, what the heck, I'll give it a shot. So anyway, part of the price reduction was a lack of remote control. The home theater manager said that the cheapest universal remote there (RCA RCR-3723) would work fine.
I can't find any codes for the Insignia machine, but there "help" desk told me that any number of other blu-ray players (i.e. Emerson, Memorex, Sylvania, Zenith, Orion...) would work. The problem is, the remote doesn't have Blu-Ray listed as one of the components. Are the codes for Blu-Ray so vastly different from DVD codes that you need a remote that says "for blu-ray" players? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer, if any clarification is needed, don't hesitate to ask!
