Unlock and jailbreak iphone 3G that is running OS 4.0 for dummies :-)?

Hi there! I just purchased an Iphone 3G that is running the 4.0 OS and 05.13.04 Firmware. I really need a bit of help with a "for dummies" version of how to jailbreak and unlock so that I can use it in China. I read online that there is a way to do this for version 4.0 but it seems a bit difficult. Can anyone help?!? Thank you!
