unlocking at&t samsung mythic for t-mobile sim?

Hey I just got a samsung mythic but i doesn't have a charger, so I have not tested it out if it will work or not. But what does unlocking entail and is it easy, worth it and FREE lol and how do I get the codes? Somebody plz help my t-mobile phone a real piece lol.
