Unlocking iPhone 3Gs on 4.2.?

So, I just got my new iPhone 3Gs. It was previously used by a friend, but he never updated it above 3.1.3. OS. When I connected it to iTunes, it offered me a 4.2. update, so my question is, can I unlock my iPhone again after the update to 4.2. BTW, the phone is jailbroken.
