im not to sure about what cpu togo for? i use vista home premium and it seems to eat up a lot of the cpu. ive currently got a p4 3.06GHZ and 2gb ram. any help on what would be the best one to go for would be great

i cant help u on this question cuz u havent given any model

u have just said that its a packard bell i media ...

please give us the model of it ...

by the way it is even recomended by vista

to use a 3.4 ghz if ur using a single core

processor for ur pc (this is even recomended

for high definition video playback in vista)

so i think the processor is enough for u

to run windows vista with aero theme ...

what u need is a good graphic card

something around 512 mb will be better ...

and it needs to fully support vista

and direct x 10 ...

if u wanna go for something cheap

something like the

nvidia 8500 gt 512 mb will do the job ...

wow u even got 2 gb ram what more

could u ask for in a p4 if can

try add another 1 gb if there are enough

ram slots available ...

That's not a question that can be answered very well on YA since we don't know your hardware/motherboard specs are.
Not all motherboards can accomodate the latest CPU's since there are different sockets and such.

Your best bet is to find out those specs, then post your question at the forums at http://www.tomshardware.com/
