Updating Blackberry curve 9360 to OS 7.1, its not updating and its been in the same

stage for hours? It says, "Database: SMS message (1279 of 1730 items)" and its been stuck there for an hour or so. It says if i disconnect or unplug the device, it might make my phone unusable. What should I do?
But it said if i interrupt the process, it might make my phone unusable?

take out the battery and put it back in. Redo the update.
