Updating to iOS 4.2? Help plz?

aight my itouch is jailbroken with greenpois0n and i heard that apple cant take the jailbreak off unless u restore it and dat updating to a new firmware still leaves you with a jb. is this true? im on 4.1 my itouch is 2nd gen and 8gigs. i want to update to 4.2 but will my itouch jb be still on? plus will i keep all my stuff on my itouch and is it worth it to upgrade to 4.2? thx
