vacation spot for high school grad?

I graduate high school in 2012 and will only have 6 weeks summer vacation before the college I want to go to starts. What is the best place for my friends and I to go to when we graduate high school? I don't want answers like "cancun" or anywhere known for partying because my parents wouldn't be down with that. If you have any experience like this then please post.
