OK, so i just purchased a 1982 Ford Fleetwood Jamboree Class-C Motorhome yesterday.
The guy i bought it from said what ever i do don't try to top off the fuel when you fill it up.
He said that it will not run good and want to die if you top it off. He said this is due to it having a non-ventilated gas cap. Now, i drove it home after the purchase and it seems like its starving for fuel or air or somthing because while going up a hill i couldnt get the thing past 55mph, pedal to the floor! My question is, do you think that i should try and put a vented gas cap on it? I read online that useing a non-ventilated gas cap on a older vehicle can cause the gas tank to colaps in on itself and or make the fuel system not function properly. Newer cars have non-vented gas caps becuase they have emmission control systems that vent off gas ect.. This is an 82, so i think i should have a vented cap right? Thanks.
