I started watching Higurashi no naku koro ni kai for the first time and I am just CONFUSED.
Is there a different season that comes before this?

Who were the men that killed Rika?
I stopped at episode 6...knowing I am missing something. Who is Shion exactly? Where is her sister? Why would she kill the other girl if the doll wasn't given to her?
