I downloaded a media file recently and my laptop was fine, but when i played it I had to download the licensing rights. I feel stupid because I didn't look at where the download was coming from, and sure enough, it tried to open a backdoor to my computer.
Since then TrendMicro has removed a few security risks, Norton Anti-virus cannot perform scans (although it still blocks attacks), and my internet will connect to the University's network but the connection is "Local Only" and does not allow internet access.
I've looked at older, similar problems and I plan on trying HijactThis and Malwarebytes soon. Does anyone know of anything useful to try? I'm running Windows Vista 32-bit and connecting through a university network.
