I bought a gateway about a year ago that came with Vista. It is a MT6919 laptop. I tried to install XP Pro on it. After the first reboot following installation, I could not get it to boot. Before POST occurs, I got the error message "Missing TPM device."
At this point there was nothing I could do that I knew of. I could not get into BIOS setup. Inserting the factory restore disc did nothing. I called gateway and they said I had to send it in. A month later I got it back factory restored but they couldnt tell me how they did it.
Well, I've been able to install other OS's on this system (ubuntu, server 2003, etc) except the one I want, XP Pro.
Has anyone run into this before and can you tell me how I would go about getting xp pro on this laptop? Gateway support is useless and I've spent quite a bit of time researching it on the web but no luck.
Thanks in advance
