Volkswagen Jetta Golf GTI Questions?

Hello. I recently totaled my Jetta with VR6. I am curious what is the fastest engine available for pre-2006 models. 1.8L Turbo or VR6? And what are the other engines available? For Golf, GTI or VR6? Is this particular model faster than my VR6? http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/ctd/2694966755.html Any other information would be great. I imagine I would be getting roughly $4000 for my Jetta, maybe more. Thanks!!!
 
The VR6 is faster hands down. It has much more low end torque because it lacks turbo lag. The turbo however is your friend if you want to mod your car. Turbo cars are cheap to make them go faster, often waaay faster.
