VW Corrado g60 Fan Problem?

Same car 91 g60 and as soon as i turn the key my fan turns on even in the morning when its cold. It never reaches over 160 on the needle and i checked my relay and fuse.. will this advance my timming and I'll loose power and fuel, if so the computer thinks its to cold out, and retards everything???? I don't know

Your car probably has multiple coolant temperature sensors. One for the gauge on the dash, one for the ECU, and one for the Fan control. It's possible that the ECU & Fan share the same one. Without a schematic I can't help you out. Check in a factory service manual or on alldata to determine where the temp sensor is located for the fan.
