The g12 coolant in my passat doesn't last a week. I have to keep replacing it. When I check, there is no leak whatsoever. Last time, the coolant contain was full and the car started to overheat. I turned it off, the gauge went back to normal.

What is the problem?

Can there be a leak somewhere?

Can it be the water pump?

Has any of you guys experienced a similar problem?

common problem is the heater matrix , it has plastic tubes and people use worm drive clips instead of VW spring clips, that cracks the plastic and the matrix leaks inside the car under the mats, another possibility is the water pump impeller comes loose on the shaft and doesn't pump the coolant round the engine, if the coolant is not bled properly it will self bleed over a few weeks and the coolant level will go down each time
