want to buy blu ray combi for pc as a present are they any good?

I don`t know much about them and saw ones at a reasonable price but not sure what they actually do or if they are any good.
 
I don't know any thing about the difference in it so If i were you i would one your explorer and it should tell you a lot about it....Good luck
