How safe is this for women? I live in Texas, but want to visit Scotland either May or June next year. Which month has better weather?

I want this to be a memorable experience (first time visiting a new country) and also love riding motorcycles so I wanted to combine the two. Problem is I will probably be going alone as none of my friends stick with plans. I'm 26 and have put it off a couple years because of this so I really am hoping it's okay for a woman to do this alone?

If it isn't a good idea, how do I go about meeting up with good, friendly people to go with?

Also, is 2 weeks a good amount of time to visit or is that plenty to visit Edinburgh and also a motorcycle tour the Highlands?

Any other info you could share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You will be no less safe as a female than a male. That I can assure you of

The snag will be getting a bike, they are not commonly hired in the UK so once you have arranged the bike hire and have a good map you can go it alone or check out to see if there are groups you could go with by checking out the site below. 00

don't be put off by being a woman on your own, Scotland is a safe and friendly country, especially so when you're away from the main cities

the weather throughout the whole of the UK is notoriously unpredictable ... and this applies just as much to Scotland, some years you could get lovely spells of weather, other years wind and rain, there's just no way of telling ... on average I guess June is likely to be warmer than May ... you'll just have to take the frame of mind that we do, a bit of water isn't going to stop you enjoying yourself

Scotland is a beautiful country and going by motorbike is a great way to do it ... however 2 weeks is not very long ... if you want to see something of Edinburgh that would take at least 3 days ... to my mind the Highlands and Islands are by far the best parts, although everyone has their favourite areas

bikers are generally very friendly people, if you joined a group tour like the other poster suggested you'd not only have a great time but make a lot of friends in the process
