Want to substitute a cd player for a 1998 Chevrolet s10?

Need suggestions will a VW CD PLAYER WORK,CADALLIC ,CHRYSTLER give me something and explain why.
 
I'd stick with a GM unit, specifically one from an S10, that way it'll plug in to the factory wiring harness and into the dash.
