Was Cantor right when he talked about infinity?

what is infinity, why has it been so hard to explain through the centuries. Does logic really have a limit when it comes to mathematics. Considering Bernhard's theorem about axioms is mathematics really pure when it comes to decribing the geometry of nature.
Any articles about infinity would help me.
