Was "Never Back Down" spawned by UFC haters?

I just saw that dumb movie, knowing it was retarded just to see that it portrays mixed martial arts as some kind of glorified street fight. Anyway it was rediculous, kinda seemed like the boxing association made the movie to make the UFC look like animals too maybe gain back a few boxing fans. What is your take?
