I have a macbook so when I have my computer open I open bittorrent, but i close it when i'm not using my computer...my downloads are insanely slow. like they're going 1% per day. it's annoying and i was wondering if there was any ways to speed this up.

Bittorrent downloads are controlled by the amount of bandwidth each of your seeds has alotted to use. Meaning each person your downloading a file from determines the amount of bandwidth you use to get the file. The only way to fix this would be on your end, and that would be to upgrade your internet connection; i.e. DSL to cable.

I know that when using uTorrent, you have an option to increase bandwidth allocation...the default is medium....set it to high. You can do this by right clicking on the current item and selscting "Bandwidth allocation". Also, try to pause seeding and other downloads. Hope this helps.

Disable your firewall (if any).
If you've already done that, the only solution is too download files that have more peers and seeds.

How many apps or windows do you have open? Anything that uses the internet will slow torrent downloads. And the other thing is, make sure how many people are seeding, the bigger number of seeders, the faster the download.
