Looks great, KE.

I may try to sketch some anatomical sculptures myself once I progress a bit. They'd probably help me with my proportion issues and would be great for extended studies.

I spent quite a bit of time sketching sculptures at the British museum and the V&A back when I was student.
Great for looking at posing figures because the old masters were so good at dynamic poses, weight distribution and something called "contrapposto".

Not sure it's even in the V&A. Like you I've probably only seen it in a picture but it seems very familiar.
One if my favourites to do back then was Samson about to **** an isrealite with a jaw bone. Great sculpture.

Ok guys... the new word/theme/concept for the week...

ZOMBIE

Tons of reference these days as its mad popular for TV/FILM/comics. Just because they are undead doesn't mean you can skimp on anatomy! Getting drawing and get posti
Bonus points for Zombie/human interaction (however you define that!) - also... don't make you Zombie float in space... give him some environment... it doesn't have to be a full rendered architectural wonderland (unless that's what you want) but try to give it some sense of feel for where he/she/it is at!

Also of note... Zombies don't have to be comic/cartoon oriented... the rules of anatomy and gesture still apply. In fact even more so as zombies are largely recognized by their gait and anatomy. So post up!!!

On the constructive crit side... I'd say go back to your base structure... get the structure down in thumbs first... that will sort out a lot of issues. You will be able to figure out where his weight is resting... and it will solve the issue with the lower legs. If you're sketching from a photo... just realize that they have mad distortion in them for drawing from... so adjustments have to be made.

Good stuff... keep posting!

Oops time machine... here is a sketch that I got done this morning over a quick coffee but it actually pertains to the one of our earlier sketch thread topics... Manual Labor. FWIW. It's standard blue pencil and then I hit with a new brush pen I got. I'm really like the brush pens!

It's one of the many construction sites here in Hong Kong. Nonstop stream of dump trucks and mud everywhere. It's a Japanese managed site so everyone wears the same outfit pretty much... muddy as could be. Lots of time waiting around for most of the workers while the trucks do their thing.

hmmm at first I'd just posted a link... but now I've used image tags and also set the album to public.. curious if it works for others now. I can see it... but that's probably because I'm logged in from the computer that has the Photobucket acct. If not let me know and I'll adjust it further.

Just choose a style or an artist that you like. Redraw some of his work. You'd be surprised how much you can learn from that method. It's a time honored method by all the great masters of era's past and still done all the time by modern masters. Just choose someone who's style floats your boat and try to figure out what they do that makes it so compelling. Some guys have dynamic action down.. some guys really know how to nail expression... some guys have the ability to render amazing environments. Just choose what you want to learn and go for it. You don't have to do it forever... and your own style will develop based on your... but find someone to help you lay the groundwork.

Here goes even more stuff I'm late in getting up... the Steampunk theme which came up on a few other forums (no surprise that) so I thought I'd post it here as well:

Needs a lot of work but it was a quicky. Will probably go back in and correct and ink this as well. It somewhat ties right into the book I've decided to reread...

Not exactly a sketch, but heres something i made a 2 months back. =)

I'm pretty new to art in general, majority of my experiences has been anime and anatomical sketches to memorize anatomy =)

Hmmm. just a thought. who here has a deviant art account? i'd love to see more of peoples art =)

Nice one! A mixture of traditional pen and ink and Pshop?

I've got a ton of new stuff but have been so bad about getting it scanned. Will get some up later this weekend!
